During an election, people elect their representatives (i.e. Councillors and Members of Parliament). One of the responsibilities of the Parliament is to debate and vote on new laws. The Government departments are then responsible for putting these laws into action.
When working on issues, it is important to:
- Correctly identify which level of government is responsible
- Find out the name of the government department that is responsible
- Visit the government department’s website to find out what they are doing about the issue already.
